Four steps
to your first connection.

Choose your platform

Ghost FTP is available for Windows 10 and newer, and for x86_64 Linux through a Debian package or standalone binary. The Android app is coming soon.

Download the app

Use the download button to save the official installer to your computer. It is free and takes only a few moments.

Install Ghost FTP

Open the downloaded file and follow the installer. On Linux, install the .deb package or run the standalone binary.

Launch and connect

Open Ghost FTP, enter your server details in Quick Connect or save them in Site Manager, and start transferring files securely.

Windows

Windows 10 or newer · 64-bit · 200 MB free space

  1. Download GhostFTP-Setup-2.1.1-RC4.exe.
  2. Open the file from your Downloads folder.
  3. If Windows asks for confirmation, select “Yes” to allow installation.
  4. Follow the installer: accept the terms, choose a folder and select “Install”.
  5. When complete, select “Launch Ghost FTP” and click “Finish”.

Linux

Debian/Ubuntu (.deb) · other x86_64 Linux · 64-bit · 200 MB free space

  1. Download the .deb package (Debian/Ubuntu) or standalone x86_64 binary.
  2. For .deb: double-click it or run sudo apt install ./ghostftp_2.1.1~rc4_amd64.deb.
  3. For the standalone binary: run chmod +x GhostFTP-linux-x86_64-2.1.1-RC4, then launch it.
  4. The .deb package integrates with your package manager; the standalone binary runs directly from its location.
  5. On first launch, choose your language and interface theme.

Ghost FTP is designed to keep your data under your control, from downloading the installer to every file transfer.

Verify before installation

Download installers only from this website. Every release includes a SHA-256 checksum so you can verify that the file has not been modified.

Your passwords stay yours

Server credentials are encrypted and stored locally on your computer. They are never sent to us or third parties, and you can use an SSH private key instead.

Encrypted by default

Ghost FTP supports SFTP and FTPS, which encrypt all traffic end to end. Use unencrypted FTP only when you know it is safe.

No tracking or unnecessary cloud

The app does not collect data about your files or servers. Anonymous analytics are disabled by default and can remain permanently disabled in Preferences.
