Web app (/ftp)

Browser transfers over FTP and FTPS are running. SFTP is available in the browser gateway when PHP SSH2 is enabled on the hosting account and is always available in supported desktop builds.

Contact submissions are passed to the configured SMTP or PHP mail transport and are queued privately if delivery is temporarily unavailable.

Server and data handling
How the service is run.
Desktop Ghost FTP connects directly to your server. The /ftp browser version uses a transient PHP gateway because browsers cannot open raw FTP/SFTP sockets. These are the technical details of both paths.

- Transport security
- HSTS is sent when the site is served over HTTPS; supported TLS versions are controlled by the hosting provider
- Web app connections
- Your credentials are used for a single transfer session and are never written to disk
- Saved sites
- Stored in your own browser, always without passwords
- File size limit (web app)
- 25 MB per file for browser transfers; the desktop app has no limit
- Data location
- Desktop transfers travel directly between your device and your server. Browser transfers pass transiently through the Ghost FTP gateway and are not retained by Ghost FTP
- Backups
- Ghost FTP keeps no copies of your files or directory listings
- Maintenance windows
- Maintenance notices can be published on this page when planned; timing depends on the hosting operator

Free of charge
Ghost FTP 2.1.1 RC4 is completely free. There is no trial period, no feature lock, no subscription and no licence key to enter.
Permitted use
You may install and use Ghost FTP on as many of your own computers as you need, at home and at work, including inside a company.
Ownership
Ghost FTP is proprietary software owned by Brendigo LTD. The download grants you a right to use the application, not ownership of it.
Not permitted
Reselling, repackaging, modifying the installer or presenting Ghost FTP as your own product is not allowed without written permission.
Third-party components
Open-source components bundled with the application keep their own licences, listed in the About window of the application.
